7International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers

About the School

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, IBEW 300 provides apprentice training for individuals who want to start a career in the electricity field.

The Electrical Apprenticeship Program requires 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and four years of classroom instruction, each year including 144 hours of training.

The hands-on training center of IBEW is located at Union Hall.

All Local 300 apprentices have to complete 36 hours of practical training in addition to the 144 hours mandated by the state.

During the training period, apprentices are paired with licensed electrical workers who act as their mentors and teachers.

After a 500-hour probationary period, IBEW Local 300 apprentices are eligible to receive health insurance, dental and vision insurance, disability insurance, pension, and other benefits.

After completing the required hours of training, apprentices are eligible to sit for the Electrical License exam.
