3Tucson Electrical Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program
About the School
Tucson Electrical Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program offers an all-inclusive program for students who want to start a career in the electrical field.
The program combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning and on-the-job training.
Apprentices spend 80 percent of their time in the field, where they learn from skilled journey workers.
In total, trainees accumulate 8,000 hours of on-the-job training during the four years of the program.
The classroom instruction adds to 900 hours in total.
Apprentices have to pay for their books, which cost $950 per year, on average.
They receive a salary that starts at half the Journeyman Wireman rate and receives pay raises gradually.
Apprentices have safe working conditions and follow safety procedures.
Applicants need a high school diploma or GED certificate and they must be at least 18 years of age.
